Sender Policy Framework

Verifies who is allowed to send email for your domain by checking the sending server against your published DNS record.

Think of it as: Only approved servers can send using your domain.
Protects against:
Spoofing of the envelope sender
Unauthorized servers sending mail as your domain.

Domain Keys Identified Mail

Applies a cryptographic signature to each message so receiving servers can confirm it wasn’t altered in transit.

Think of it as: A tamper‑proof digital signature proving the message is authentic and unchanged.
Protects against:
Message tampering
Forged sender identity

Domain‑based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance

Tells receiving servers what to do when SPF and/or DKIM fail. It also requires alignment, meaning the visible “From:” domain must match the domain authenticated by SPF or DKIM.
